With so many dog-friendly restaurants, bars, and dog parks, Austin, TX is pretty much a dog’s paradise. And let’s be honest, what’s a Sunday Funday without your pup partner in crime?? We agree at Grocery Pup, it’s no good stinking Sunday at all! So here are our top places to drink, dine and be festive with your pup on your next Sunday out and about.
A combo dog park/restaurant/bar, Yard Bar offers the ultimate trifecta for eating, drinking and being merry with your fluffy pupper. They have food and drink for humans, and sliders and ice cream for dogs. To top all of this off, they also have Movie Mondays (Helloooo Sunday Funday round two!) where they show canine flicks as well as offer popcorn, s’mores and drink specials. Memberships are $125 annually, and $5 per day.
Banger’s Sausage House and Beer Garden
Located on the always festive Rainey Street, Banger’s is the place for you and your pup to throw down. The beer garden has a dog park where pups can run off-leash and the kitchen serves a special dog-friendly sausage. For the humans, Banger’s has those tasty manmosas ( 1 liter of champagne with a space of OJ) that pack a real rager of a party in a glass. After chowing down at Banger’s with your pup, we recommend heading next door to Icenhauers to get your dance on for their Super Soul Sundays hosted by the Night Owls.

Here at the ABGB, you can have beer, thin crust pizza and adorable pups – the holy grail of living life the way it should be lived. The ABGB also regularly hosts dog friendly events like Puppy Pool Parties, a Dog Mardi Gras Parade, and fundraisers for organizations like Austin Pets Alive!

The owner of Cane Rosso, Jay Jerrier, is passionate about two things: 1.) Making seriously delicious Italian pizza; and 2.) Helping abandoned dogs. Who wouldn’t want to support such a fine institution with priorities like those! After enjoying a pizza, we seriously recommend going next door to the Cow Tipping Creamery. This joint specializes in soft-serve ice cream that comes in decadent flavors like bananas foster, red velvet and peppermint cocoa. Unfortunately, they can’t allow dogs inside of the ice cream shop, but if you have a friend watch your pup, you can go inside to place an order for all of you to eat outside.

Located on 2.5 acres north of the Austin city limits, Doghouse Drinkery has a bar and a game room, where owners can relax and socialize while their dogs run and play. They have a large off-leash area complete with a special small dog (less than 30 pounds) section and an additional 10,000 square foot area reserved for training, adoptions, and yappy hours. This place is a solid choice for relaxing with a brewski while your pup sniffs the grounds and makes new friends. Annual memberships are $75 and day passes are $5.

Shack up with your pup at either the Shake Shack location on South Lamar Blvd. or over in the Domain area. They both serve the famous Pooch-ini (dog biscuit, peanut butter sauce, and vanilla custard) that all dogs go absolutely HAM over. And, the South Lamar location even has a dog park to boot!
