Farm Fresh Ingredients
All of our meats, whole vegetables and fruits are non-GMO, pesticide free and human-grade. We only partner with local farms based here in the USA. Unlike shelf-stable brands, we never use any artificial ingredients, preservatives or by-products.
Our unique recipe combinations have been formulated, tested and approved by an expert veterinarian nutritionist, dog parents, and countless fluffy loved ones. All of our recipes are formulated to exceed AAFCO requirements for adult dogs.
We use a sous-vide method to cook our meals. We place our fresh ingredients into BPA-free vacuum-sealed bags then submerge them into a temperature controlled water bath. Our food is then cooked for over an hour until reaching a temperature of 160°. This long slow cooking process maintains vitamins and minerals and enhances the taste and texture of our farm fresh ingredients. It also destroys any potential food borne bacteria. It’s this cooking process that makes our food as close to homemade without making it yourself.
Shelf-stable brands use high heat pasteurization to process their foods. While this process also keeps food safe from harmful food-borne bacteria, it completely destroys the food and eliminates the natural nutrients of the ingredients.
The sous-vide cooking process mentioned above keeps the nutrient content, taste and texture of each meat, vegetable, and fruit intact so it’s just like eating homemade. Vacuum sealing the food before submerging it into the water means that vitamins and minerals are not lost during the cooking process unlike with boiling or steaming.
The extremely high temperatures that shelf-stable products are subjected to kill off vital nutrients, enzymes and healthy bacteria that are critical for healthy growth and development.
Using a sous-vide method, the meat protein cooks in its own juices, which leaves the food moist, juicy and tender. It ensures our food is cooked perfectly every time and makes dogs go bananas over our food. The taste of shelf-stable brands simply doesn’t compare.
To retain the freshness of our food, we keep our meals frozen. After all, fresh food is perishable and isn’t meant to sit on a shelf for months or years! Due to the high heat process, additives and preservatives in shelf-stable options, those foods can sit on the shelf for up to two years.
